Hi There,
Our Shetland steer will be going in to the freezer in November. :-\
Can anyone recommend a 'nice' smallholder abattoir in the West Devon/East Cornwall area(we live near Okehampton, Devon) I've looked on line and there is Tideford Abattoir, Tideford, near Saltash,Cornwall, and East Hill Pride, near Ottery St Mary, Devon.
Any advice gratefully received and thanks in advance

There is also one in Hatherleigh, I've heard it's good.

JJ Farmers, North Tamerton, 6 miles west of Holsworthy. Is very good and will butcher if needed. Unfortunately the last mile of track is a real teeth rattler, and it is tricky turning a trailer round when you get there. Would suggest a dry run without the trailer first.

Thanks for replies, will find out about both abattoirs, Cheers

I have just learnt that some improvements have been made to the approach 'road' to JJ Farmers.
