Title: Hello from Packington Leicestershire
Post by: syde house chooks on July 12, 2008, 10:07:51 pm
Hello there,
I recently moved to our current cottage within 2 acres. I now have a growing menagerie. I have a mixture of hens and cockerels, most of which I have raised myself, buying a wide variety of breeds on ebay. Now up to a total of 41 and more in the incubator. Had a bit of a set back last week when a fox got into field and took 7, leaving another 7 dead. When I am not busy doing the garden or chooks, I am down the paddock training my agility spaniels and setter. Now considering getting quail too!

Welcome from Normandy Elaine.  Sympathy for your lossesl.  The fox has done really well out of us this year to; such a terrible waste.

I have just got some quail - three females and a male.  They are so cute and bless them, lay me an egg a day.  Go for it, they are really sweet.

John is going to build me an enclosure for them in a 'round' around the apple tree.  Plenty of shade in the summer, that's the idea - hoping they don't get dizzy on walk abouts!

Let us know when you get them.

Hi, Elaine and welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy them.

Funny how hens are addictive, isn't it. We started with three and now have 29, although none of the three Originals are still around.
