Title: Anyone know about making plaster imprints of flowers ?.

I happened to catch an item on CountryFile last Sunday where clay was used to take an imprint of various flowers and grasses, and then plaster of Paris used to make a very pretty plaque type thing ( you can see I know all the jargon..not lol  :innocent: )
What I'd like to find out is, what type of clay would I need ?.
I imagine it would need to be pretty soft to take the imprint and preferably not quick drying so I can reuse the clay.
Last time I did anything with clay was at school , which was a very long time ago !.

I saw that too.  Weren't they wonderful  :trophy:.  I don't know any more about working with clay than you do, and I can't remember the lady's name to find out more.  Someone on here is sure to know  :)

I saw it and thought they were beautiful. I was going to try it just with some modelling clay and plaster of paris from the craft shop, you used to be able to buy plaster of paris from the chemists (i.e. Boots) but not sure if you still can.

Lol, yes didn't they just, I'm sure it won't be quite as easy as they made it out to be.
I did find one artist who makes stunning ones from concrete, I was quite tempted to buy one.

I was thinking that if you started off with robust plants like cow parsley, you could learn gradually how to make the more delicate ones.

Yes I was thinking the same thing walking the dog this evening, I also wondered about using a bit of barbed wire and making a fence line , and then I wondered if I found a dead moth or butterfly if I could use that, which got me thinking  about using a mouse next time one of the cats brings in a dead one , maybe taking things a bit far with that one lol.
