Has anyone got a towed wheeled American topper that has a Briggs & Stratton engine on it , using a single belt to drive a 24 " cutting disc that has two 12" centrifugal cutting blades on it .
My pal ha one and the disc has come free , fell off
On looking at it underneath the cowl I see that the 3/4 UNF keyed shaft on which the cutting disc was fixed ( castellated nut & split pin C/W big thick flat washer ) has been opened up so the keyway is almost a " Vee " shape .
I'm looking for someone who has removed the drive shaft ,for I would like to know if the bearing on the shaft is a wobbling knuckle arrangement or if they are sturdy fixed ones .
I'd also like to know if they had any great difficulties with the drive belt pulley , such as it bending out of shape if I use a home made wide lipped puller on it
I'm hoping to make a new shaft for on my metal work lathe
