In grassland.  Small, almost clover like, ground covering. stiff-ish red coloured stems

It might be a wetland/moisture loving plant if that helps?

I think it could be water purslane (Lythrum portula).

Fantastic, thank you, that looks like it.  Not fantastic that I have it on my fields but hey :)  at least I know what it is now!
