Our very large lawn is full of dockins and I am trying to find out what is the best/easiest way to get rid of them!
Is there a granular lawn weed killer that we can spread ourselves that will kill dockins?
Or would a better option be to find someone with a quad bike mounted sprayer and get them to spray the lawn with a weed killer?
Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated :fc:

You can get granular weed killer. We sell it at my work,Angus Horticulture, 01241 829049. Have a look at the website for details, but it's not working for payments properly at the moment. There will be someone to have a chat with for specific info/answers.

Just keep mowing, they'll go eventually.

What's a dockin?

What you rub on nettle stings to take the pain away (allegedly!)
I don't know their proper name though, sorry.

Oh docks. That figures. I hadn't heard of them being called that before.

You can spray now with Progreen, or take a hoe with you every time you walk round and hack out the centre about 3cm deep to destroy the growth point. My neighbour used to take a bag of salt across the fields in Spring and sprinkle a spoonful in the centre of each plant. Docks come in two varieties - broad-leaved and curled leaves. The former are probably the worst for spreading and taking up a great deal of room. Do not let either seed! If you don't manage to kill them all by the time they've set seed take a sickle or dashel basher or similar and cut down the stems before the seeds ripen and fall, to prevent more appearing next year.

They're called dockins hereabouts (north Cumbria) too.
