Title: Harrow or roll first?
Post by: Daisys Mum on April 20, 2016, 07:34:10 pm
The field that the horses have been in all winter needs harrowed and rolled but not sure which to do first, the area where the hay feeder is and around the gates is just drying out mud and any grassy bits have loads of poo on them.

Harrowing will help to level the field before rolling with poached areas.

And if you are going to overseed, do it inbetween, then the roller will press the seed into contact with the soil.

Thank you both, hopefully the weather will stay dry enough to get it done soon

So dry here we're getting dust storms off the fields being cultivated  :eyelashes:

Roll it flat then harrow.  Otherwise you'll just be harrowing lumps of mud (if your poaching is bad).
