Title: Heel Mites
Post by: Caroline1 on January 25, 2016, 03:05:55 pm
2 of my 4 goats have developed scabby heels and I think it may be heel mites, they are both about 9 months old. A number of treatments seems to be for cattle or sheep of which I don't have any so ordering is getting hard.

Any recommendations of what to use and where I can buy it from?

Speak to your vet, get a proper diagnosis and ask for their advice ! They will probably dispense an amount of a suitable product for just your animals rather than you buy something that would do a large number and go out of date before you can use it.
It's probable a mange mite, mine used to get it in the winter but were OK in the summer. Others will post and you can decide what's the best thing for you to do

Eprinex pour-on for cattle deals with heel mange, you can order it through your vet. Not cheap but should last for a couple of years min. No milk withdrawal time if I remember correctly.
