after much upset,my friend asked me to dispatch his hen as it had been suffering from an infection and was due to be put down by the vet on wednesday,however i did it tonight so it didnt have to wait.I used the wringing the neck techinque and was quite surprised by how easy it was.However i didnt like the feeling of it,I've seen that people use air pistols/rifles to put down their birds.What are the advantages to this method?(apart from the obvisious)is it just a simple pellet into its head? this may seem like a stupid question but i;m new to the dispatching of hens .

no its not simple you must get the target right. its a small area the size of a 5p at the back of the neck. i still cut its head off to be sure. plus it needs to breed out.

aim to shoot it in the occipital area.
