Title: hypodermic needles
Post by: fiestyredhead331 on November 24, 2015, 02:25:37 pm
been trying to find the same needles that my vet gave me recently

they are monject 1.2mm x 25.4mm but they seem to be rarer than hens teeth, anyone know where I can get them? So far all I can find has a 40mm length and I thought that might be too long for intramuscular injections?

TIA

Hi ! If you got them from your vet why not ask for some more ??? My vet dispenses small numbers of needles and syringes.

well syringes I buy in boxes of 100 (they get used for everything around here.... :innocent:) and thought I'd just order needles in bulk as well

Might be worth figuring out what "gauge" they are. 25.4 mm is one inch, a fairly standard size, but I'm not sure what gauge 1.2mm is. If it helps, I often use 19g 1" needles in sheep or goats

the ones I got from vet are 18 gauge but the only 18 gauge ones I can find online are 40mm long  ??? or if I want 24.5mm length I need to change gauge to 27  :-\

I prefer 40mm length needles - much more versatile.  Same for injecting adult people.

We definitely have both 1" and 1 1/2" 18g needles, may need to try another supplier, or ask your vet to buy you a full box!
