Title: Water trough: plastic or metal?

Plastic is coming out cheaper than galvanised metal for a 3' trough but I'm wondering if the plastic ones are worth it.

We have horses and sheep in the field and I'm wondering if the horses might break the plastic one if they kick it.

Anyone with experience either way?

Used for horses,sheep and sometimes cattle (although they're a bit small for the cows who drink A LOT). Had them five years and thye look the same as when I bought them.

We have both, I prefer the metal ones. Ponies haven't broken the plastic ones, n I got some big hefty cobs lol

Interesting.  The JFC DT20 (100 lt) was the one I was looking at.

Thanks Rosemary and Hellybee.  Looks like Ill go for the plastic.  Its cheaper and comes complete with the ball valve.

I use a plasterers bath for in fields, there strong and hold plenty of water, 20 quid aswell
