Title: What colour is a baby toad.
Post by: sabrina on April 13, 2010, 10:49:40 am
While working in the pollytunnel yesterday I came accross two baby frogs or toads. Its a bit early for me to see young frogs which I get now and again. These were rather pale in colour and I wondered if they could be young toads.

could be.. toads are more knobbly looking, not sure how early on you can see this!
we get both in our garden, and for the first time ever have spawn in the pond... but I don't know which sort!  You've reminded me to go and find out!

if you find them under stones or in the earth they would be toads, I found quite a few already. We also had them wandering at night to the pond to mate  just before the last snow, it must have hit them hard, no spawn in sight....There were none again during the last few warm days, I am a bit worried...I did hear the odd frog in the pond though.  :&>

'our' spawn is frog... now hatched into tadpoles (i'm very excited - can't wait for them to sprout legs!!  I'm easily pleased...)

We have tadpoles in the kitchen every Spring and always take some in for the children's classrooms.  They love it and I have to admit I love it too.  I feel like every one is a temporary member of the household!
