Title: Hello from Mid-Wales
Post by: dolanog on October 18, 2015, 06:01:17 pm
Hello.

It would seem that, more by accident than design, we are about to become responsible for about 13 acres plus outbuildings etc near Welshpool in mid-Wales.

We already have chickens and will probably get some geese. Pigs are planned as is an orchard if land is suitable.

Advice is likely to be sought on what to do with remaining land, although we are country folk we haven't before tried to make use of this much space.

Apologies, this was supposed to be a new thread, not hijacking yours.

I'm about 12 miles from Welshpool.. so hello neighbour!.
As to what you do with the land... well depends on loadsa factors: what it's like, wishes, energy, enthusiasm, time and whether you want the hassle etc: anything from 10 acres of fodder maize to a stray sheep sanctuary... or go into competition with Penarth Vinyard and stick in some grapes.
My acreage is more just somewhere to walk the dog, enjoy and spoil some pet sheep.. with enough veggies, fruit etc that i give more away than eat myself.
