Just wondering whether to buy the new ones or go for an antique set?

My OH made mine for me from Cherry Wood, although really they should be made from beech.

I have several pairs of old ones.  Some are a bit prone to splintering, which isn't ideal (though I just pick the splinters out!)  Some are very very smooth and don't splinter.

Old ones might be like my rolling pin, lacy patterns from the woodworm holes!
