We lost most of our tatties last year to blight. What can I do this year to protect them? Hopefully to prevent it before it strikes, rather than trying to treat it once it's there. Johnny

Try to get all the potatoes out from the ground when you harvest and so you won’t leave any blight fungus on your plot.
earth up potatoes to protect tubers even if you get blight in the foliage. if you notice blight affected leaves twist off and burn
because the blight fungus starts from wet leaves water from the base rather than spraying potatoes. in warm weather your artificial rain may well trigger a blight attack. Leaky hoses are a good way to water potatoes. if you have a small plot consider putting a cover over the potatoes be sure to allow plenty of ventilation
or try and get a sarpo variety.... expensive but supposed to be resistant

hi. I have lost my potatores two years in a row, the very wet weather with some heat is the cause. you might want to choose to grow something else next year! that is what i am doing. it's a shame, but there are plenty of other lovely veg. K
