IMHO microsoft internet security is not worth your time downloading.

Get shot of Norton's & grab yourself AVG free, it's one of the best around...just follow the link previously posted

It's what i use & after i downloaded it, the prog discovered a trojan within my system that Norton overlooked   :o

Avira is a little better than AVG, and is also free. Anyone who buys an anti-virus being taken for a financial ride.

I agree - don't buy one, get AVG free - and for heavens sake don't have two AV programmes or they will slow your PC down to a snail's pace!(I write from experience - duh!!!  :-* :-*)

VIPRE. an excellent anti virus.
We had a trojan before we got it through the other anti viruses! Luckily we have more than one account on the computer and we had to put Vipre on one that was not used and sneak it into the computer. It took Vipre three days to clear the computer.

Download the new one anytime and save it instead of clicking on run.  Then delete Norton when you are off line, and install the new one afterwards.  There won't be an opportunity for any viruses to invade if you are offline.

Remember, don't have two virus checkers on the same machine.  When they are both scanning at the same time they use memory and the machine slows to a crawl.

I am from an IT company and we have just changed all of our AV and internet security to Kaspersky asi t performs a lot better and is well priced, but i assume the free ones are just as good

I used Kaspersky once and it slowed my already snail like machine to far less than snails pace.  But the main problem was getting rid of it when I had had enough of watching the paint dry.  It would NOT go away!  It was soooo like AOL you might have thought they were invented by the same person!  Tenticles everywhere.  We eventually (IT son and son-in-law) decided a clean install was the only way, so I had the onerous job of trying to get all my documents backed up - it took DAYS!
I use AVG free. No problems so far, that's 4 years now.

AVG free, has done a good job so far, found several things immediately the kids brought in by clickling on links on MSN.
CCleaner for spyware and general tidying, it's really fast. I used to have Avast, adaware , spybot and spydoctor and all slowed the system to a near halt, useless. :&>
