Title: More online forensics fun.
Post by: Fleecewife on August 08, 2015, 09:11:49 am
Human Identification

Uncover a grave, examine remains and reveal the victim’s identity in this free online course, linked to a new Val McDermid story.

https://www.futurelearn.com (https://www.futurelearn.com)

This is a forensics course, presented as a mystery, run by Dundee University.  They have arguably the best forensics centre in Britain, with some well known scientists working to solve some of the more difficult murders in the real world. They have also pioneered facial reconstruction methods for unsolved and archaeological evidence.  The Val McDermid story has been specially written for the course, so I think we can expect something of quality in this 6 weeks Future Learn course, which begins in a month's time.
I know several of you enjoyed the earlier forensics mystery course run by Glasgow; I know I did.
Hope to see you there.
It's even been on the local news, so there should be plenty of folk doing the course.

Bionic! You took the words out of my mouth!!

Its not easy to get a job in Forensics now as the Home Office have drastically cut their forensics service

.......and apparently you spend most of your time doing really routine things, with no glamour (if you can call corpses glamorous) or excitement at all.

I think she's been misled by 'Silent Witness' - she will have other career aspirations very soon I'm sure  :)

FW, I wish you hadn't told us about this. I had made up my mind that I wasn't going to do any more courses as I just don't have the time.

Can't resist this one though.  ;D
