Do any boer goat breeders breed 3 times in 2 years with their does? I understand that this can be done but how many actually do it?

It is possible to do this with Poll Dorset sheep too. I imagine it takes a lot out of your breeding females and careful management and timing to achieve.

It can be done in the right conditions but we only take 1 crop a year from the does but space out the births giving us finished carcasses at different times of the year.

In our climate taking 3 crop in 2 years would take its toll on the animal in question and reduce lifespan I am sure.

But yes interesting to find out and speak to anyone who is / has.

There was a speaker at the Grampain Goat Club meeting who did this but I can't remeber where she was from.
