behing our chuck house the ground is more slightly unlevel than we thought.
we have been thinking of what could go in but as said the ground is not level.
what i would like to know would pigs do a good job in getting it level again as best as possible.
any replys will be appreciated :pig:

No mate I dont think so but they will make it a lot easier for you to shift it from the high to the lower to make it level Lorra werk.Is it worth a mini digger hire.With a competant opperator of course

would do but ££££££ flow is something that is allways thight with us if you know
what i mean but i think :pig: is the way forward and work the rest like you said ;)
p.s. the goat shelter is finished a little rustic looking but doing the job and i
had the pleasure of sitting down with them in there while they munched away happily
on their hay :D

Hello Langdon Sounds smashing and If they like it its ace I posted a story about a chicken hut and Ascotts on RCC some time ago. I will see if I can find it Karen and Fiona may remember where I put it but it will encourage you I'm sure if I can find it ;D ;D :farmer:

Hi the bigger pigs will dig very large holes (deep enough for me to stand in and not see over) and then fill them in again. The soil is then very loose and light. It may be possible to rake the soil before the pigs fill in the holes (hope this makes sense) using it to level other areas, very hard work, but possible???

mmmmm im not one to shy away from hard work as i said before
we cant afford machinery to do these types of jobs so we do the best by hand.
in some way i feel more connected with my piece in that way ;)
im very tempted

Our Goss girls are digging huge holes whenever the groun is not frozen solid or slopping wet. We found the best ever diggers to be tammies. Would love to know if you did do it and possibly photos?

im just wondering if the slope is to steep for pigs e.g. to much strain on the legs
i dont know, we deff want to put it to some use as it is going to waste if not used.
mind you i will take a photo of the ground and see what you think.
we are only ere a year and some of the ground needs tlc.

Ours are on a slope, and slowly leveling it - now 6 inches below the top level and the same above at the bottom, but don;t expect this overnight
You don't state the gradient - but as long as the ark is level and it is not a serious slope they should be fine

taken a photo of it in the next day or so to put on.
not sure as how to measure the gradient.

with a theodolite its easy can you borrow one for an afternoon langdon

had another look at that piece of land again, looking at it again closely
for a second time it seems to be that its not that bad really.
ive taken a photo or two will put them on so you can see, only room for
two pigs. :pig:
