Title: hair loss in pygmy nannies
Post by: Jode on June 26, 2015, 09:08:01 pm
We have two 4 yo nannies who kidded for the first time in april. We've had them since september 14. We wormed them with paramectin on arrival and they have had their two vaccinations for clostridial diseases as not previously done. I noticed a couple of bald patches a few days ago on one and today saw that the other has too. Kids are fine. They aren't itching. Am thinking I should give them another shot of paramectin as they've not been wormed for 9 months.   They live in their own paddock but we have alpacas also nearby and have had an issue with mites, currently under control. We treat alpacas with dectomax injections and eprinex pour on diluted 50/50 with vegetable oil on our vets recommendation. Have read that goats can lose hair after kidding due to hormonal issues. Any advice/experience?

Could be hormones as you quite often see this is sheep but both at the same time sounds more like mites. Vet would take a skin scrape which will tell you.
