its started to happen as i new it would, a lot of would be good lifers selling there 2-£300 coops for a fraction after 1 year, ive got 2 last week one was £22 ebay, cost them £195, one for £25, cost £395, they were moving. one today £100 he paid £265 5 months ago. thats the most ive paid for a coup and ive got 10, but it was a good one.

The cheapest way is to buy timber and build your own. I recently paid £260 for enough timber to make a 9'X9' shed (enough to house upward of 80 chooks in comfort)
I will no doubt have to invest a day or two in building it but even charging myself £150 a day that's a huge shed for a little over £500

no time for that.... i will look out for the used bargains, i got 2 wooden wendy houses as well just put wire in the windows and cut a pop hole, search ebay for play houses

Harry - I'm loving the sound of the wendy houses - can you post a picture for us all to enjoy?
We recently bought a coop from our local animal feedstuffs retailer (built in Ayrshire) after the shed my husband converted 8 years ago, when we first got chooks, became unrepairable. I still think his design was better! ;D

Yes, I think there are great bargains to be had after people get realistic about keeping chickens! What I marvel at though, are the pics of chicken houses I see posted by our friends across the pond. Some are two storied lavish affairs with banisters!

I have an eight by six shed, and hubby made perches. A lot cheaper than purpose made coops.
