Title: Romney sheep
Post by: lesbri on June 01, 2015, 06:59:06 pm
I bought a few orphan lambs last year which were romneys and have been very impressed with them and their lovely fleeces. Does anyone else on here keep romneys, pros and cons of them? Any thoughts?

I have NZ Romneys, they are fab sheep. They thrive on grass alone, lamb themselves easily and are great mothers. They are suited to outdoor lambing perfectly and they are the most independent sheep I've ever worked with. They take themselves off somewhere sheltered and you just find them with big lambs up and sucking, I never had to pull one out of 85 ewes    plus lambs growing well and ewes looking great, hoping to get 8 wk weights tomorrow (if the hurricane passes!)
