alysburys, or an aylsebury X would be better and easier to get, classed as a commercial meat alysbury ie not a true alsbury

Try the muscovy. My neighbour has them - huge things, and good meat.

our local farm nearby swears by Barberry ducks, as they only need a short time of extra non-grass feed, all other food for them is free, lol. That's the duck you see most on supermarket shelves  :&>

Apparently Barbary and Muscovy ducks are one and the same. I'm looking to get some too. Trying to find a breeder near to Tamworth if anyone out there knows of some let me know.

I though they looked quite different (the Muscovies I've seen looked much more colourful and Barberries don't have quite such a Turkey like face), I'll have a look at google images, maybe that will help... Aren't Muscovies from the Americas and Barberries from Hungary ?  :&>

Nah barbary and muscovy are the same. Barbary is from a muscovy strain. Other ducks are from mallard type strains. The muscovies at my neighbour's have a red mask, but they haven't got turkey faces.

I'm always happy to be put right!  ::)
I didn't mean to offend any Muscovy lovers, their look is just not the kind of typical appealing duck face I'm used to. I was very impressed with their relaxed and friendly nature, though. And they are tasty ... :&>

LOL! No seriously - some wild muscovy DO have turkey faces, but the domesticated ones don't. I wasn't offended, god I have got the thickest of skin, so I wasn't saying they haven't got turkey faces because I luurve muscovies and I was offended you said they have turkey faces lol. I prefer pretty duckies myself  ;D

Hi, we breed Muscovy ducks and have a huge choice of ages, sizes, colours, both sexes, barred genes. If anyone needs advice or to view them in Northamptonshire, feel free to give me a call on 07545999026.
