Hi
Sorry I'm new to this and wondering if Anyone has a opion on tractors I have a choice a David brown 990 or 880 selectamatic
Please can I have advice

It kind of depends on what you want to do with it:- the 990 is a 'bigger' tractor with more HP (59hp c.f. 46hp for the 880 IIRC) so if you're planning on doing a lot of ploughing it would be the better choice; but then again if you're doing more lightweight tasks most of the time, then the smaller tractor might be better/ cheaper to run & maintain.
If there's a difference between their condition, I'd be more interested in the one in better condition, but then again that might mean spending more to buy it.

Well the price is same and it seems to be same condition I would like a tractor to top and chain arrow and eventually bail my parents field they don't have s big field but this is just a little hobbie I like to do really

I bought the 990 as looked a lot better and got chain harrows and topper too.. Does any 1 re amend how to keep this old girl going and advice first thing I should do

:wave:Buy a users manual and read it..you'll find one via the web or DB owners club.
Change:
Engine oil and filters
Gearbox/ hydraulic oil and any filters
Diesel filter
Power steering oil and any filters..if it has power steering ?
Make sure you use the correct oils.
Empty water trap on fuel system if it has one.
Grease every grease nipple you can find.
Check/top up concentration of antifreeze in radiator.
Change air filter (or oil in air filter if applicable)
Check tyre pressures...if it doesn't have power steering blow front ones up a bit harder than recommended it will make it easier to steer.
Keep an eye on water and oil levels regularly until you get to know the old girl.

Oh yes...never get off the tractor with the pto running...never allow anyone else near....and don't wear loose clothing like scarfs that can get caught in the rotating shaft.

Great advice listed above, how about a manual or workshop repair manual?
If you don't already have one, keep your eye out on ebay etc for one as they will give you pointers on where things are.
