Crikey my sheep have developed really dirty bums in the last week or two. I'm going to clean them up. I'm not sure how to go about it and have spent this evening on the net to little help. Can anyone recommend how best to tackle it? I was thinking mild soap/shampoo, a stiff brush, plenty of water and lots of rubber gloves. I've my dagging shears too, but it looks beyond that I think. Any advice is greatfully received.

Good plan, but tie them up with a halter first. Assume you've dealt with/ are aware of the cause.

Depending on the size of your sheep having someone stand astride the shoulders to keep them still and standing astride the pelvis yourself and working down from above helps to get them cleaned up with the minimum of stress. I get the odd one whose rumen reats fresh grass like it was a crate of oranges - I just cut off the mucky wool as the shearer will be in soon.

And don't waste the daggings. Put them in your runner bean trench or into a barrel of water for liquid feed.
