Title: Sultans
Post by: pedigree porker on February 09, 2010, 07:10:39 pm
We have been given a couple of sultans (one of each) the cockrel has trouble seeing past the feathers which cover his eyes (bumping into the hen coop) and his feet are very muddy, due to mud collecting in his feathered feet, the hen is not so feathery so doesn't have same problems. We are aware that they are not ideal to keep with our other chickens who share with the pig, but at the moment we don't have any option. They are thriving and appear well and happy. I worry that the cockerel's feet will become affected by the mud and so infected etc.

Is it ok to trim the feet feathers? if so how? or does anybody have any other solutions, which doesn't include moving them. thanks
