Title: keeping dwarf rabbit with a regular rabbit
Post by: Clarebelle on April 14, 2015, 03:31:07 pm
I have never kept dwarf rabbits before so not sure about this.

I have a friend who had two neutered male dwarf rabbits but one is gone and they are looking for a new companion for the remaining rabbit.

Unfortunately we have had no luck finding a dwarf rabbit breeder here so I was thinking of giving my friend one of my rex rabbits, I'm just not sure if they will be ok living together or whether the size difference makes no odds?

I suppose bullying is a risk if there is a big size difference, but would have thought depends on the socialisation to begin with. I have only ever kept same size bunnies together.

As long as bonding goes well / supervised I don't see a problem, as long as they are all neutered any humping will be dominant so should sort itself out pretty quickly. I've sold Netherland dwarfs that have been bonded with German lops with no issues, currently a little mini lip getting bonded with a large cross all going well.

I keep my two miniature lion heads with a huge NZW, the little buggers are the bosses, no argument...!  :roflanim:
