if there is meant to be a picture, I can't see anything.
-
Me neither, but have often been reduced to using pallets in an emergency and they do an excellent job. I put metal hurdles outside to be weathered and sunned clean once lambing's over but it doesn't work so well with wood.
-
Looks very organised
-
Can you see it Me ?
-
Looks good to me, with hinges and everything - no baler twine in sight :D
-
Erm, very square :innocent:
-
I still can't see anything.
-
Cant see nowt ???
-
Very clean too. Always important at lambing time.
-
Nope. Can't see anything. ???
Lots of baler twine here :-[

Yep looks good. I've been rendering around the kennel block this week, painting it tomorrow so we will have somewhere power washable for the pens (don't ask where the dogs are going that week...)
-
unfortunately I can't see anything
-
Quick question - are the pallets white and gold or blue and black? ;) For some reason it's hard to tell in the photo? :innocent:
-
As it seems to be an invisible pen, how many pallets per pen?? What size are the pallets? I am thinking of doing similar this week as due to lamb end of next week. My eyesight is poor so if it is possible to enlarge the picture that would be fabulous!

Womble they are clearly blue and black (you as bad as Mrs Me)
-
It appears to be a very neat diagram of a square pen, demarked in red, with a smaller inner area of grey, supported by some form of red cross-members in the middle.
I think some labelling would help and an enlargement perhaps? ;D
-
Nothing there for me either, apart from a little box with a red cross in it ??? , perhaps they are the cross members??????. Still looking for the hinges ;)
I wonder why it's there for some and not others?
-
I'm assuming the pens are built in the style of Brigadoon?
-
Never , have I sooo wanted to see a pallet lambing pen ...... :fc:
-
No, not unless your logged into the farming forum!

Mine also seems to work now I've registered with the farming forum, very good set up Castle Farm
-
Beautiful!!!! puts my lambing shed to shame!!!! :(
-
WOW !!!
Next question, where did you get all those lovely pallets??
not a bit like my oddball sized offerings :)
like the hay rack as well

I got some very reasonably priced hurdles this byear from a nice man on ebay called Davey who makes his own. They cost about £1.10 a foot and he can make standard or bespoke sizes.
They can be delivered anywhere and I think delivery is about £30 a palet full. I have split the barn into 3 sections and thebewes move up to a new section and clean bedding as they get closer to lambing. this also moves them closer to the cctv camera and nearer to the bonding pens in the stables.
The hurdles are supported with blocks on the walls and secured with spring bolts that go into holes in the concrete floor. I have attached hinges to hurdles to form gates allowing me to access each section and used large screw in eyes along with bamboo rods to link hurdles together forming dividers and smaller pens. All the hurdles are either removable or fold back against the wall so I can create space easily for lambie play or cleaning down. I also got 6 second hand rubber stable mats for the lambing area which are easy to remove and clean down between lambings.
I found pallets very heavy to lift and difficult to see through on the lambing camera but if anyone wants some bailer band I have lots!

Finally the suspense is over. Thanks Hevxx. It's a great setup
-
All joking aside, well done - that looks like a great setup  .

There's a great section in Tim Tyne's book about making your own lambing pens, and a hay feeder, all from wood. It has a cutting list and everything, for the most economical use of wood. Lovely. And much like the picture from Hevxxx99.

Hi I can't see any pictures but I have built two sheep shelters from pallets as well as a Manure heap, store for turnips. I have two Hay racks made from packing boxes with the sides knocked out. I have just put up a poly tunnel sheep shelf and will be protecting the shoes with pallets. I couldn't afford to be with out them

That's were our were copied from... Tim's book that is. Except we made the hooks from mild steel wire and use now a number of broken electric netting wire posts (plastic) to make up the pens. It all works beautifully, even as pen for (goat)kids and this time round as emergency kidding pen!
