Title: When to incubate
Post by: lindaball1961@gmail.com on February 11, 2015, 04:11:35 pm
Hi there. When is the best time to think about starting to incubate eggs please? My RIR girls and my Marans girls have laid all winter and now my Pekin bantams have started to lay, also my Welsummer youngsters. I would like some cream legbar eggs, ideally local to Norfolk/Suffolk, but last year didn't have much success from e-bay bought eggs. I've had excellent results from my own boys& girls so I suspect the problem was less to do with my incubator and more to do with the postal system! Thanks guys!!

Thanks guys. Perhaps I should start sourcing eggs!!! Am going to raise a few Pekins for a friend who wants them hand tame. My little Pekin girls and boy are so tame it's ridiculous so I'll use eggs from them. Anybody got any fertile cream legbar or araucana eggs?!!!  :fc:

You can get both from South Yeo Farm in Devon (http://www.southyeofarm.co.uk/poultry/our_breeds.html (http://www.southyeofarm.co.uk/poultry/our_breeds.html)). I've hatched two CLBs and an Araucane (all hens) from them - along with a variety of others - good level of fertility (can't remember I had of each breed but I think it was two from two CLBs and a bit lower on the Araucana). Clearly requires postage but I got them through the post no problem.
