Title: Duck Egg Boxes
Post by: HesterF on February 10, 2015, 04:33:49 pm
Do any of you buy special egg boxes that are big enough to comfortably fit duck eggs? If so, where do you get them from? I've always bought egg boxes from eBay but the quality is variable and I've not found any that easily fit duck eggs. Quite a few of my boxes come back again so I'm happy to pay a bit more for quality ones that I can use over and over especially if they can fit big eggs too.

What about making your own custom ones?

I'm going to give these a shot this year.

They wouldn't look like that if I made them  ;D - and I can't see me keeping up with demand either (not got a huge number of birds but at the peak they'll probably be laying 13 or 14 doz a week). Nope, need a lazy solution! But I can see a rainbow of eggs looking fab in there. In fact I might make a few for our holiday cottage guests (when it's eventually finished) because I do have the egg colour variety to make it work.

I use these ones:

Not maybe the cheapest but been impressed with the quality, easily take larger duck eggs and stand up to reuse well.

Thanks - they look perfect and by Flytes of Fancy standards not too expensive! Only problem was whilst I was ordering, I happened to add a few more bits and pieces as well. Ooops!

Just realised they're Flyte So Fancy, not Flytes of Fancy. Prefer the latter!
