Title: Turkeys and Muscovys
Post by: sokel on February 10, 2015, 06:48:18 am
is there any problems with them living together ?
Mr and Mrs Muscovy have decided they do not want to go into the duck shed and have decided to move into the Turkey shed
Every night before feeding they take themselves to bed in there.
Turkeys perch up high and the Muscovys sleep in the straw below.
Just want to check there is no problems health wise with this and when both the Turkeys and Muscovys start breeding with there be any territorial disputes between them  :-\

Mine live together fine, when the turkeys are young the Muscovys are boss, then the turkeys take over.

I've seen the turkeys give the ducks the odd peck on the head if they get too close but apart from that nothing.

fast moving Muscovy ducklings however seem to scare the life out of turkeys!

i've often seen a duckling set off running and stampede a fully grown group of them!  ;D

Must be like the mouse and the elephant thing  ;D

Thanks. Will keep an eye on things and see how they go
They all free range and only get locked in just before dark, during the day the muscovys are usually down the paddock on the river bank where the turkeys are usually either up the stable yard or in the garden terrorising the little dogs and cats lol
