Held at Lanark Market. There will be selling pens as well.
I finally got my finger out and managed to enter this year. Don't think I've entered for nearly 10 years! I entered 7 chooks, now having a slight panic that they aren't in good enough condition....

I am sure they will be fine.

Thanks Cans. Got my show pens sorted out today so they are all inside now.
Anyone else going?
Beth

Yes I'm going first time showing at the Scottish my birds are not how I would like them to be but they will have to do. See you there.
-
YAY!! I am going, one of my young entrants is threatening to molt  and the legs are not as nice as I would like on some of the others, but its going to be a fab show and I am keen to go, are you staying the night Beth?
-
Hi Mays,
Know what you mean about threatening to moult, I am sure my cockerel has 1 less tail feather from last night to this morning >:(
Not staying the night, close enough to come home. You taking the lorry and staying over?
Beth

Was thinking of taking the lorry but if no one else is staying over I might just come in the car and stay at a friends place.. don't want to be there on my own!
-

entries closed before Christmas :-\

Entries closed on the 23rd, it's a real nightmare trying to get them in with the Christmas post, and with the busy rush up to Christmas.

I like the idea of going. Not been before, Is it a good day out? It's a long way for me to go with my baby in tow - is it worth five hours driving?
-
5 hours of driving is quite a lot! It depends on what you are going for or what you want to see really. It's the biggest show in Scotland, so you will see more chickens in one place than you've ever seen before, and it's a great chance to meet people. However, as people drift around, it's also difficult to sometimes find someone you want to speak to.
I would think about when you want to go. Judging is done on Saturday, and that means you can't always look at all the birds, if the judge is still in that aisle. But equally, they box up the birds starting about 2pm on Sunday, so if you want to go on Sunday, it would have to be morning. Saturday, it might be better to go late morning, and hopefully you'll get to see most of the birds in the afternoon.
The selling pens will be open the whole time, take boxes with you if you think you might buy something. Prices can be high, as they tend to be show quality birds.

with over 3500 poultry ducks and geese 350plates of eggs plus 160selling pens . its well worth a visit but as chairman i may be biased.plus its only 3 quid to get in how much more value for money can you get.
-
Thank you both. Will see what I can do.
-
I'll be there on the Sunday, anyone need some drinkers bringing along?

Are the selling pens auctioned? If so, what time? Thank you.
-
Selling pens are a fixed price set by the sellers.
-
Ok, thank you.

Great result at the show today my wee black Scots Dumpy bantam pullet got on to champions row BOB, Boy was I surprised and delighted just can't believe it.
-
Nice one BC it was a nice looking bird, do you have the LF version?
I got a bit held up on the Sunday and missed the Scots Grey meeting but managed a good look around the birds
-
No LF only keep bantams.
-
Ah, didn't realise that was yours, we were looking at her. I actually have to confess I didn't know you could get black scots dumpys :-[ and I really liked her. I could be tempted to get some black ones....
I took six chooks, the seventh one escaped from his show cage and had a run in with a goat, and the goat kindly pulled out 3 of his tail feathers!
But anyway, I got a 1st, 3rd and 4th. My boy got best gold pencilled male too. So quite pleased, as some were in quite big classes. My pullet was 4th out of 11, and her class winner went on to be best opposite sex to champion.
