Title: planting between spuds

hi all

i read somewhere a while back about planting veggies between rows of spuds does anyone know what the best crops for this practice would be? and they must be colorado beetle proof for the Ukraine,,,,and on that subject anyone know of a natural predator for the CB or a natural way of outwitting the little bastards!!!  :o

Trouble is, potatoes are very leafy, so a tall, narrow crop is probably better so it will grow above them.
Something like beans or sweetcorn?
dont know much about Colorado beetle, sorry - I take it they're a big problem over there?

yes you are probably right and CB are a huge problem here  :(

the only thing that grew in my potato plot was self seeded poppies. i must say that not only did they look brilliant but I also collected the seeds for baking. but my whole garden is based on accidents like that, seems to work a lot of the time. I can't imagine anything other than flowers thriving between potatoes! :&>
