Title: Sheep Toolbox
Post by: Womble on November 26, 2014, 07:49:24 pm

My first and probably only thread in the Crafts section!  ;D

After a few months of running around with my sheep stuff in an old licky bucket, I figured a proper box was in order. However, I really didn't fancy a plastic B&Q affair as I wanted something sturdy to sit on whilst waiting for lambs to appear, etc etc.

Luckily a few hours and a surplus floorboard produced this!:

OK, it's hardly the work of a master cabinet maker, but it's functional enough. The lid flips down to reveal my sheepy toolkit, and doubles as a handy shelf to rest things on and keep them clean between sheep.

I'm sure the contents will develop over time, but at the moment I've got a variety of lotions and potions,  foot clippers, hoof brush, dagging shears, disposable gloves, syringes and a wee sharps bin for safe disposal of used needles. (I make no apology for the paddington notebook - I've had it since I was five, but could never find an important enough use for it during childhood, so....)

There is one concession to adulthood built in too  ;) , along with some hooks for hanging it...

.... from the nearest gate, sheep hurdle or radiator to keep everything out of the mud while I work.

So my question now is apart from a cold beer or two, what else have I forgotten to put in there?  ;D

That IS exquisite! Not an essential medicinally, but I would not be without my 'blowfly repel'..... It does seem to work and smells fab.   We had a few strikes this year when I had only just got it... Used it whilst I was doing the horrible bit and it really did drive the flies away.

AntiB and Calciject?  We always have Huggies baby bum wipes - great for lambs' bums too, and for cleaning hands after horrid stuff.  Maybe kitchen roll, and a small bag for rubbish.

Love the box

That's a wonderful box.  You could go into production on those!

Beautiful piece of work. I bet it didn't look half as good as a floorboard.

BTW you seem to have forgotten the kitchen sink.

That is terrific  :trophy: , well done.  I wouldn't be able to carry it though  but it would be a great lambing box to stay in the barn.  Put me on your list please when you go into business making them ;) ;D

Womble, I do have a pile of lovely bamboo flooring left over, if you were to consider making more of these  :innocent:
