has anyone restored the old roll top baths before? we have a few that have been outside for 20 yrs plus so I don't know if it is salvageable but they are still water tight, and one in particular still has claw feet.
I have seen a few DIY kits for re-enamelling old baths, though our bath has no old enamel left at all.
any experience to share please?

There were specialist companies re-enameling baths, but that was 30 years ago so I don't know if they still exist. You could get a repair kit to touch up chips once as well. It isn't a DIY project -if the enamel coat has any flaws in it water will get underneath and fetch it all off.
