Post by: Young Ed on September 28, 2014, 04:47:17 pm
so do i buy a preloaded reel of polywire
http://www.rappa.co.uk/products/81-reel-with-orange-polywire-200m (http://www.rappa.co.uk/products/81-reel-with-orange-polywire-200m)

or do i save money and get a just a roll?
http://www.rappa.co.uk/products/66-orange-polywire-200m (http://www.rappa.co.uk/products/66-orange-polywire-200m)

i have a couple of reels currently that i could use to roll it up on when/if need be but would the roll just just get in a massive tangle and end up in the skip? should i reel the roll out as it is with a rod or pipe or so through the middle or do i wind it onto one of my current reels and then reel it out onto the posts in the field?
Cheers Ed

I wind polywire onto a stick (either 12" piece of  timber or a suitable piece of firewood ) using a figure of 8 wind. That way I have a usable wire that can be fed into the plastic stakes. I also make sure that when I take the fence down, I wind the polywire straight back onto the stick again. It can get very tangled if you don't wind it up as you go - ask me how I know that...

It's quite a bit more expensive  buying pre-loaded, when it is not too much to create your own skeins.
