Title: Anyone else getting snow ?
Post by: HappyHippy on December 01, 2009, 06:18:54 pm
......or is it just me  ???

It's been coming down constantly for the last 3 and a half hours now ! And mostly it's melting so hopefully not too much disruption for me tomorrow  ;)

Well you can keep it there. It was -5 here this morning and the rain has been threatening for the last hour which is worrying. Don't want any snow.

I was told there's rain forecast for Thursday.  It's blooming cold here tonight in Clacks.  Wish I'd put in my wood burning stove last year.  No chance of getting it for Christmas either now!

My ducks and chickens have been delighted today.  Wandering around on dry but extremely cold and extremely hard grass!  Instead of very wet and very muddy sand.  I don't like snow either so the longer it stays away the better.  I want a good old fashioned coal fire!  To hell with carbon emissions.................... ::)

My ducks came out their house this morning and some of them made straight for the pond, but discovered they could only walk on it and not swim - oh if looks could kill. They made straight for the gate which meant freedom and the river, didn't even stop for any breakfast. Luckily the river doesn't freeze with it being tidal.

Confusingly there are many experts that are saying man is not causing global warming in the first place.

We had some snow on our hills last weekend.  Very keen frost last night, so everything frozen this morning, and the lane was really icy too.  Been snowing since about 4pm, but don't think it will stick.  I am really cold tonight, no heating in our draughty old house.

Snow is nice to look at or play in but not for walking..I need some super tread boots before I venture out in the snow and ice. We love to have log fires but our heating is on for the guests and I actualy get too hot at night as we sleep in our lounge due to being full....hot flushes, never there when you need them, just when you don't!!

Hey Just got home at 10.30 from Perth. Rain most of the way back and then it joyously it turned to snow.
I am so tired and so hacked off with work i really really really hope we're snowed in tomorrow.
Couldn't park the car cos the snow was so deep. Just slid it gently into a bank and abandoned it until morning!!!!!!!!!!Hooray!!!!!!!

Still snow on the ground here but the road just has white slushy ridges down the middle. Fingers crossed for more tonight. although I don't think I've got much chance.
The chooks were a bit perplexed this morning. Eventually they followed the example of the ducks and just ate it.

We had about an inch of snow last week but it didn't stick around too long, thank goodness. Not enough for a snowman, just enough to worry about the roads being gritted and getting where I need to be.

No rain at all?   I can only dream of a day like that.....seems to be a very soggy North Devon at the moment.

Very early this morning there was drizzle but that cleared away and it was lovely, VERY cold now though but I can live with that. :)

Soggy West Cornwall as well  >:( >:( >:( We are so sick of the constant rain - a bit of ground frost and hard going would be welcome - though I would probably eat my words if we got snow as well!!!
We badly need some hard ground so that we can get on with our digging out to level our building site and sort the foundations. The actual digging out isn't an issue as such, but we need to get rid of the spoil and that involves a run with a tractor and bucket loader in slightly cramped conditions, the ground is so wet the tractor is just creating huge tracks and trenches all over the place so we are a bit kaiboshed right now. We've been prevented from getting on with it for the last 6 weeks so our original goal of foundations poured by Christmas is well knackered  >:(
