Title: Chickens Ears

Ok,this sounds like a wind-up to me,but as April 1st has passed,here goes....

Apparently,one can tell which chicken laid which egg by matching egg colour to ear colour of the hen.

Apparently,you have to fold forward the feathers behind the eyes to see the ears and there's the tinge. Any credence to this? I would check myself,but as the hens I bought 3 weeks ago still aren't laying (grrrrrrrr) then I can't.

This is a new one on me!!!

I was told that the egg colour was related to ear lobe - I've take the ear lobe to be the skin that you can see on the side of the head. Our Brown Leghorn had white lobes and laid white eggs. The RIR and LS have red lobes and lay tinted eggs. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong bit of skin or maybe it's just coincidence...
