Glad to see I'm not the only one not glued to the football... It's dead quiet out there - just heard a dog bark, but no human sound, car or anything, for the past 40 minutes!  ;D

Sorry - don't know about the chooks, either... ;)

Can you tempt them in with a trail of food Hansel and Gretel style?

Just spotted one outside our living room window, must have flown out the 6 ft fenced run, chased it round the front garden into a pile of thistles and nettles, Ouch !
Got about 30 stings on my hands and arms swelling up .
:roflanim:  gotta catch the rest in the run when the film is over we are watching.
l have a net !  :roflanim:

New chickens are supposed to go into the darkened coop first for a few hours (at least) to 'imprint it' on them as a safe place. Then open the pop-hole and let them come out in their own time. They should be coming out into a small run only. It will be several weeks before they can wander further afield.

Guess the stings and swollen arms will be a reminder in the future Kelly.

We try and slip them inside just before dark and keep them close to it, rigging up a temporary run withthing like old fireguards and strawberry netting if necessary, for a couple of days.

Have rescued chucks for the last 14 yrs so was aware l am suppose to put them in the shed for a while before letting them out  The reason l didnt was because when l went to collect  them they had been in a big dark box since tea time the night before. I wanted them to get some sunshine on their backs. Will just keep putting them to bed at night till they get the idea.
Patience and resolve !  :chook:
