Our onions have come up very bull-necked this year. I think the soil in the new raised beds is too rich.
Anyway - suffice to say - they're not going to store well and I was looking on the internet about freezing them which seems a possibility.
Does anybody have any experience of freezing onions?

try lightly frying them in oil and freezing like that, portioned out for mince dishes etc.

No experience but you can buy frozen chopped onions in the suppermarket so its definitely possible

are they uncooked or blanched, or in an ice glaze to prevent ice burn?

Certainly the internet info suggests just chopping them up into useable quantities (I plan to do it in quantities of one onion) an sticking them into the freezer in ziplock bags.
I was just wondering if anybody had done this.
I will try it and report back.

Don't keep them near your ice cream or anything else you are not happy to have an onion taint.

It's worked really well. We have a "savoury" freezer and a "fruit/other" freezer so they sit in with the lamb and tomatoes.
They are brilliant and cook real quick from frozen.

I dice the onions and pop them in a freezer bag. Great for things like spag bol and stews, just pour from the bag straight into the pot.
