After two weeks our hens still have not laid. They are in a run, nowhere to hide eggs. Fairly sure they are not being stolen. They are all 1 or nearly two years old. Up until now they have been daily layers. Will they blow up, die from being egg bound? What's going on? Thanks. :farmer:

Winter is whats going on. are they losing their feathers?
-
Yes a little, but last winter they laid every day. How long will our suusex hens be on strike do you think? :farmer:
-
Yes, but this winter they are erm, more 'mature!' And they aren't egg-machine hybrids, so be fair...
Ours are warrens, some ex-bat and have noticeably reduced egg numbers.
The quail decided AGES ago it was winter, thankyou very much, so no more eggs til spring! And they're very young

I'm getting one every other day from 8 ex batts and a LS. I'm fairly sure it's the same hen that's laying too as the eggs are always slightly misshapen at one end.
-
We've gone from 20 to 8 eggs a day!
-
we have 46 layers and are getting about 24

My ex-batts were released in september and I'm averageing 3 a day from 5 birds. 4 then 2 and so on!!!
I have raised a couple of chicks and I'm not sure when little Mildred will strat laying!!
I had a dream she layed a nest full of tiny eggs :D :chook: Am I going completely mad  ;D
-
No, not mad! When we were building our chicken shed, in February, in hail and snow, my o/h was dreaming about still building and turned his imaginary screwdriver right in my belly, when I asked him what the heck (!) he was doing, he said "I've got to finish, the chickens are here!"
Mind you, he does weird stuff like that quite alot....

you DO have an interesting life, Little Blue ;D ;D ;D ;D
