What greens (lettuce type stuff) can I grow in my greenhouse over winter that I can plant now. I have a small heater to keep out the freeze but nothing to keep it really hot. Any suggestions, or is the list very long? Any successess out there? Ros :cat: :chook:

Hi Ros, there are some good winter salad ideas here, http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/
If you click on the gardening calendar then vegetables then October lots of ideas. This is my first winter with a greenhouse so I have no previous experience.

Hi, I have just read January's 'Gardeners world' that my mother in law passed on to me, and in there is a guide to using your greenhouse all year round, its quite a good guide might try it myself.

I know what you mean my greenhouse has sat there not being used all winter, its only recently that ive planted some oriental veg Pak choi, Mizuna and Brocoli that sort of stuff. Apart from having to germinate them in the warm there loving it outside, no nasty bugs to eat there leaves this time of year.
Next year i will be ready!!!

if you have access to fresh, and i mean FRESH stable manure you can make a hot bed (like the Victorians used to make) and grow things quite successfuly (as long as they dont need a lot of light). lots of information here http://www.holon.se/garden/howto/hotbed_en.shtml

Great idea and that's a very nice site. Something I may try for next winter as we have an abundance of fresh manure here every day!
