i hatched some geese easter this year, do they lay this nov,dec jan etc, ive never kept them to lay before always killed for xmas

mine have always started laying mid to late feb. not sure if that is typical of all geese. eggs seem like rugby balls compared to hens.

yes that is typical from my experience.

just loked at your post again harry. you do mean kill the geese don't you? i havn't seen santa for a while :o

you wont, hes a lazy person. but my question was hatched in easter is it this coming season they lay ie 9-12 months old.

yes they do. but they are not much good at looking after their young untill the second year. we had 30-40 eggs i 5 nests of these 6 hatched. only two survived and these were the ones we had to rescue. so in the first year if you want more geese incubate them and when they are a few weeks old see if the adults will adopt them. good luck.

mainly interested in eggs, how long do you soft boil a goose egg, on the other subject i think santas a benifit cheat, he only works once a year at night when the benifit inspectors are not about, very suspicious

Hiya - I think mine are always laying by Valentine's day. And a soft boiled goose egg takes about 8 - 10 mins depending on size. Bye
