Won't be popular I'm sure but we are now in need of some rain! The river is so low that one of the horses got under the water gate yesterday and onto the neighbouring barley fields, it was pure luck that he didn't go onto the A1 as there are horses on the other side. Took 3 of us to get him herded back into a safe place to then get a head collar on him. The fields are hard and dry and any fertiliser just seems to be sitting on top of them, I have bought a little for one of my fields, the one the ewes and lambs will eventually go onto but don't think that there is any point having it spread as there is very little grass on it and if it gets windy again before it rains I would have been as well not bothering.
-
A few light showers wouldn't go amiss here :innocent:
-
Nor here. The grass is very green but could do with freshening up.
-
Yes, we need it to, absolutely no grass here at all, despite application of much expensive fertiliser.
-
A few overnight april showers would be nice - grass is coming away and the mud is almost passable now so I don't want a lot but last summer's cracked earth would be good to avoid :)
-
In a polite way
P*** o** we've had enough rain for 2 years, we still have puddles
You want rain ?? come down here I'll give you bl**dy rain
We haven't had rain for a while but still need to wear willies,(oops wellies) ground is very soft and a couple of inches down it's sodden
-
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .......... thank you ;D
Our mud and puddles have dried up in the last day or two. It's bliss. Sheep look happy, chickens can have a dust bath and the dogs are clean .... well sometimes. ::) Children enjoying playing out. :excited:
More of it ..... at least for a while longer. :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine:

I'm with AndynJ, we are a bit further west from them in Devon and are just starting to dry out, so no rain for us please and thank you Mr Weatherman!
-
Well could we just have some in south east Scotland please Mr Weatherman, seriously my grass has stopped growing and with lambing immenant i am going to be struggling, thank goodness the equines are natives and need very little good grass. At the moment they are in the pig field but that just is going to delay getting pigs as I like to have a decent amount of grass for them.
Even the hen run which is usually pretty green at this time of year is bare.
-
Noooooooo!!! Not for a bit yet please (I see the forecast is for rain next Wed anyway). The springs are still running and the ground is still muddy in places. But at least it's not currently a calf-deep bog, as it has been most of the winter.
-
we have some coming tomorrow so I've been told …. …

I will lend you some, NO NO sorry I will give you as much as you like for free.
:roflanim: :roflanim:
-
Sorry AndynJ but I have hobbling ewes at the moment cause the ground has got so hard.
-
even my mower wheel spins because it's still so wet 10mm under the surface
-
I am beginning to think that all the trees I have just planted should be getting watered so a wee bit of rain would be a good thing for the dry ground.
There was a bit of a woodland fire just along the road yesterday which was probably not helped by the dryness either.
We may live in a small island but it is amazing how different things can be in different places.
-
Bone dry here :innocent:

According to my favourite weather forecast site - xlweather,
Tullibody should start to get rain on Tuesay pm, up to 3.2mm (I think it said), about 1am, Wed. morning, light rain until Thursday, get your water collecting gear ready :-)
put your postcode in you get the forecast just for your area, it's good. (Watch, hope it doesn't prove me wrong now ::) )
It said light rain for here at 1pm today - 1.20pm it started raining and then stopped as forecast.
But we have plenty of water still in the land, so no more for us please.
-
I filled 4 full size bins off our caravan guttering in less than an hour, I dread to think how much rain we have had but I'm sure whomever it is that drops it on Devon has got their mm's and centimetres mixed up

Do I give the impression we don't want any more rain
Wellies on again tonight

Raining here now - we needed it but feeling sorry for the lambs. They haven't experienced rain yet :)
-
I'm near Daisy's mum and we've had manky mist all day, dark and gloomy. :(

Oh well done Bloomer! :raining: :gloomy: :raining: Very well done! ;)
-
Ye ha it rained today, pretty heavily for a while, the fields look better already although it is now just foggy and horrible :raining:
-
Do I need rain ?
Difficult one.
On one hand the grass is dying and that means I do not to cut ithe lawn but on the other hand our water butts are empty and I am having to lug water from the stream to water the veg plot and trees and pay for the water I give to the animals and ducks.
I reckon that the hay crop aroud here will be rubbish unless we get some rain

Sorting out the sheds , bagging and boxing up stuff , loading the car , carrying it all 300 yds along track , then across field 150 yds to shed etc , and it is pissing down ! I am sick of it and soaked .
Nearly went arse over tit a dozen times carrying tools i can barely pick up , along a very muddy track , it was bone dry last week !
-
Darn it - we had a storm last night and I can see the lawn growing as I type. Ducks seemed happy enough though - as I managed to change their water and let them out to pick over the early morning emerging insect life and slugs in the lawn. Dull but humid here now :(
-
Seriously??? Want more rain???? Absolutely p'ing down here in Hampshire, even with the brief warm and dry spell we had the ground is still water logged, please turn the taps off up there!!!!! :gloomy: :gloomy:
-
its not our fault the southern counties were greedy this winter and hogged all the rain (scotland had a drier than average winter)
its overcast and cool today and we had 2 days of rain but the ground is still very firm...
-
manky mist, dark and gloomy :(

Question why has the inner workings of your home got anything to do with the weather ?????
:roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:
-
now the puddles are over flowing, I guess the Scottish rain wishers must be happy now.
We have got areas that are flooding that have never had a puddle before.
-
Sorry AndynJ guess I wasn't precise enough about the area and amount of rain required :gloomy: I've had enough here too, grass is growing well but lambs are due now.
-
Sorry sorry sorry!! Please could it stop now. River is almost bursting it's banks and when I went out to check the sheep this morning the ones that had lambed over the weekend insisted on coming back in with their lambs and are now filling Baloo's stable again.
-
Now what saying does this remind me of?
oh yes
Be careful what you wish for ;) ;D

:roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:
:roflanim: :roflanim: When it's manky, mist and gloomy OUTSIDE, it is dark and dreary inside.... :roflanim: Also plays havoc with my washing....
