Title: Sheep skins
Post by: Mungo24 on April 16, 2014, 09:28:05 am
Morning

I sell my jacob skins and they add value to my flock, I am looking to expand the types of skins I produce. I have seen some nice shetland skins (katamoget I think) and herdwick skins. I am after some suggestions of breeds or crosses that produce nice coloured skins.

Fire away, grateful for any suggestions, it is all food for thought.

Thanks

My favourite skins i have had tanned are brown coradales.  Beautiful cappucino colour, with amazing long soft fleece.

Well marked Jacobs come out beautifully.

They do indeed, I have a box of lovely jacob skins sat in front of me as I type.  Looking to expand to different types/colours/textures, if anyone has seen or bred sheep that make interesting skins, I am all ears.

Oops - remind me to read the question next time  :roflanim:

Okay - I haven't kept Icelandics, but I have seen some tanned - lovely subtle colours, fluffy like clouds (tanned by Skyeskins)
