My cockral has matured and has started attacking one of the girls which has forced her out of the flock. This has led to one or two of the other girls picking on her aswell. She has taken to roosting under an upturned bath and cuts a lonely figure pottering about by herself.
I penned them in for a week all together to no avail. Any ideas ? Am thinking of getting a couple of Banties to keep her company and building another coup for her............

It happens from time to time and for no apparent reason but often it can be because the bird is sickly so maybe worth checking her over. She may never be able to return to the flock so adding a few banties is an option.

We've had a problem similar to that GSH. The hens started attacking the cockerel's favourite whilst he was treading her. She took a hell of a beating and was pulled out permanently. Same happened to his next favourite, so we pulled all his hens out permanently. They are all strong and healthy TNN's.
On reflection it may have been a run size issue triggering the behaviour. TNN's are not large birds, but 4 hens and a cockerel in 5 square metres (with a 2 metre perch) is far too small for such an active breed.
