Hi everyone I'm new to pig keeping just picked up two kunekunes and I didn't realise but there 14 month old is there a recommended age for slaughter as I've got them to clear my land and for food maybe breed just wondered what peoples experiences were thanks in advance.

My Kune- Kune pigs went to slaughter at 10 months as that was when they were ready. Depends on weight but by 14 months I would have thought well ready.

Ok thank you for the reply.

Rightly or wrongly, you sometimes see Kune Kune's advertised as non rooting pigs.
-
I heard around 2 years old they start rooting is this right? ???
-
Pigs will root from about 3 weeks old :innocent:
-
Mine were rooting at a few months old not that it bothers me, its what pigs do.
-
You can stop them rooting quite easily. Keep them on concrete! ;D
