Title: Trimming J-bead
Post by: suziequeue on January 04, 2014, 08:03:53 am
I am building a two wheeled handcart (http://gardencartblog.blogspot.co.uk/2007/04/introducing-whizbang-garden-cart.html) and the plan that I am working off calls for the edge of the plywood to be finished with J-bead to protect it. The J-bead I am using looks similar to the picture below

Well - I applied my first bit of J-bead to a panel yesterday and it was a bugger to cut to the correct length. I cut it with a hacksaw and when I got to the gappy side it went all flimsy and flapped about and I couldn't get a good purchase for the hacksaw.

Is there something I don't know about that I'm doing wrong? What's the best way to cut it?

:knit:Angle grinder with 1mm disc would do it

Put a scrap piece of wood inside where you want to cut it to keep it rigid.

Ooh - that's a good idea.

I used the angle grinder this afternoon and it worked a treat but maybe the angle grinder AND a bit of 9mm ply wedged in will give a cleaner cut

Thanks  ;D
