Well, if it works, say hello to my Japanese quail!!
Think we've ended up with 2 cocks and one hen, but she lays every evening so thats good.
(just wanted to see if I could get the photo to work!)

They do have beautiful markings.

Never had quail, but they look lovely.

From what I've been told the two cocks will fight one day, perhaps you need to get some more females.
-
Yes, we are hoping to get some more hens, just isn't as easy as that around here!
Am persuading husband we should invest in an incubator (Or build one!) and hatch our own.... knowing our luck, a 50% hatch will all be boys!!

I knew I'd posted something somewhere.....So thats when we got them, August!
Just to say, I've finally managed to get some more, unrelated hens. One more Jap like these, two range (more brown, darker colour) and a gorgeous Tuxedo - with a white bib.
Though she decided its winter and stopped laying, and the new ones are just babies, so must rig up a light somehow...

What a pity you're so far away, I'd have bought some from you to train my dogs (caging tehm for teh dogs to point - no harm done to them.) I LOVE quails eggs.
