crikey, when you all hatching them? my rumpless araucana and Scots Greys pullets (all late hatched at beginning/middle of June) have all come into lay in the last week or so-and the rumpless are the latest starters I've come across as yet.

the batch i brought to scotland were hatched mid july so hopefully eggs will appear soon...
-
Yes sure they will..one of my silver black marans is redning up nicely so hoping its imminent (fingers crossed)they were hatched very early July..there's a chap in South Wales who's had marans off sue and think his have just started I think..
-
My Marans started Boxing Day after a mid-May hatch and we'll have more daylight down here than you have up North so it doesn't surprise me if yours are later starting. No help with the original question though - sorry!

i plan on borrowing a boy or loaning my girls out at some point to get a couple of dozen hatching eggs at least as just in my immediate central scotland Tas friends there is demand for more of these...
-
How many girls did you get - are they black copper or english maran coloured - i have both in cockerels?
i guess i was just unlucky:0(
Happy to assist either way ( i know you have an issue with cockerels staying for 2 long) - we are about 20 mins up the road from you , the legbars are looking good 2
cheers BL

I have 2 girls both plain black from
i know roughly where you are and if the girls start laying soon will be in touch to arrange a holiday for the girls or one of your boys at some point.
Assuming payment for service would be in eggs :-)

That would be appreciated :0)
Can assist with incubation if required also

That would be good as David has one owned by a friend of mine and he'll want it back soon. ;)

I've spoken to Greg I think about my hens purchased from Darkbrowneggs...they're yet to start laying, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for any day now. My young cuckoo Marans pullets [from Kevin Bowkett] are laying though.

I didn't manage to get any of the batch that came up last year, being too far down the order/waiting list once the boys started being identified, so if anyone who was luckier than me does get female chicks I would still like to be considered at POL, I really can't have another cockerel here, one is more than enough or I'd have offered to rehome one of the copper/black boys. Or anyone else in north Fife area who has copper/black POLs with dark egg producing lines please.
